How It Works

Community Support cases are reviewed before being publicly promoted. We focus on genuine, urgent local needs and protect vulnerable people’s privacy.

1

Someone needs help

A person in the community is nominated by themselves, a family member, a neighbour, or a carer who knows their situation.

2

AskPerTask reviews the case

We contact the nominator and the beneficiary, check the story, and verify the genuine need before anything is shared publicly.

3

Local people and businesses offer support

Community members can offer labour, materials, transport, or practical help. Businesses can register as Local Heroes.

4

We show what happened next

Every case has a visible outcome. We share what help was delivered and what changed for that person or family.

Local Heroes

Local Heroes are community partners — tradespeople, volunteers, and local businesses — who step in to provide practical support on reviewed Community Support cases.

Nominate Someone in Need

Many people who need help cannot ask for it themselves. Older people, vulnerable residents, or families in crisis may need someone to speak up for them.

If you know someone local who needs urgent practical support — a neighbour, relative, or community member — you can nominate them here.

Please note: Submitting a nomination does not guarantee approval. AskPerTask reviews every case to protect the community and prevent misuse. Cases are never published without consent.
Nomination submission coming soon

This will become the entry point for reviewed Community Support nominations. The AskPerTask team will contact the nominator directly after each submission is received.

  • House fire recovery — making a home safe again
  • Disabled or vulnerable access emergency

Can you offer practical support?

If you are a tradesperson, volunteer, or local business that can offer labour, materials, time, or a relevant skill, you will be able to register your interest with the AskPerTask team. Verified helpers are matched to cases after a short review.

  • Tradespeople who can offer practical help on a verified case
  • Local businesses able to provide materials or equipment as a community contribution
  • Volunteers with time and willingness to help with clear-up or errands
  • Businesses wanting to be listed as a Local Hero for the community
Offer of help submission coming soon

This is a placeholder preview of the helper registration pathway. When the Community Support programme launches, tradespeople, volunteers, and local businesses will be able to register their interest in supporting verified cases.

No financial contribution is required. This is volunteer and community support only.

  • Contacting the beneficiary or a representative
  • Checking photos and location details
  • Confirming the urgency of the situation
  • Verifying that public story consent exists
